Benidorm consolidates the de-seasonalisation of the event season and further diversifies audiences

The Low Festival is now ten editions and six editions of the Iberia Festival Benidorm Sound changes format and proposes eight concerts during a month in the Parque de l’ Aigüera.

Events and music festivals are not just a summer thing. In 2018, Benidorm consolidates the seasonality of its season of events, which for the second consecutive year will start in Easter and will last until at least November. In addition, the programming that is taking shape in the coming months confirms another trend:”the diversification of the public”.

The offer of events will start at Easter and also bet on musicals

In this preview of the programme of events, it was today at FITUR that representatives of four of the musical brands that have already joined the city have attended: Low Festival, Iberia Festival, Benidorm Sound and Fuzzville.

The event season will begin on March 31st with a festival in which we are already working and more details will be known in the coming days. Just after April 19-22, Fuzzville, which this year moves to the Magic Robin Hood complex, will arrive. Sergio Moreno, head of Fuzzville’s Communication Department, has indicated that this year’s edition is becoming a festival that takes the spirit of the All Tomorrows Parties, which was held in Great Britain in the last decade and became one of the most followed by music journalists from all over the world.

In 2018 the Low Festival celebrates ten editions and six years of the Iberia Festival, while Benidorm Sound, which in previous years has led to the arrival in Benidorm of the international DJ David Gueta changes format this year and proposes eight performances for a month in the Julio Iglesias auditorium of the Parque de l’ Aigüera.

After reaching last year a new audience record with 83,000 attendees in the four days of the festival, the tenth edition of the Low has already started to roll with strength. An edition that the organizers have nicknamed #TheBigLow, which will take place from 27 to 30 July, and has already announced a more powerful headliner: Chemical Brothers. In addition to the electronic duo, there are other names such as Phoenix, Izal, the only concert at festivals in the Levante area this summer or La Bien Querida, and in the coming months and weeks the line-up will continue to grow. A poster that will be more ambitious than ever, as Moreno has said.

But before Low will be the moment of Benidorm Sound, a festival twinned with others that take place in the main cities of the country such as’ Las noches del Botánico’ in Madrid or’ Los jardines de V’ next to the events in Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife and Valencia. Although for contractual reasons it is still too early to reveal the names of groups or artists who will be passing through the Julio Iglesias auditorium of the Parque de l’ Aigüera from June 20 to July 22, Javier Ferrándiz, one of the festival promoters, arrives in co-production with two of the most important producers: Live Nation and Serious Fun Music have announced that they will be very powerful national and international artists who want to perform in smaller venues so that the concert has a special character.

There has also been talk of another event that it repeats year after year: the Iberia Festival, which has not yet closed the exact date of its sixth edition, although it will do so in the coming weeks, also announcing some of the names of the cartel. The local promoter has stressed that the last edition of Iberia was a success and we covered everything that is expected of a national music festival, which attracts an audience different from the one that usually attends this type of events.

Also in September, and more specifically on the 8th and 9th, Benidorm will experience the great days of its Pride, which closes the European Pride calendar. An event with a significant impact on the British market, which also capitalizes on one of the city’s most massive events: the Fancy Dress, which will be held in 2018 on 15 November, coinciding with the end of the major festivities Patron Saint.

Also, in July Benidorm will once again be the European capital of salsa, bachata and other Latin dances, in a new edition of the Benidorm Salsa Congress that as a novelty this year will go out to the street.
